6 Ways to Celebrate Spring!

6 Ways to Celebrate Spring!

This year, the vernal (or spring) equinox will take place on Tuesday, March 20. This is the day that we welcome Spring, as the length of the day is equal to the length of the night. After this point, the days will get longer and the nights will get shorter until the summer solstice on June 21, when the pattern will reverse. Here are some ways for you to get back in the groove of warmer weather!

  1. Get grounded! Winter hibernation is over! We have built a habit of being indoors and watching TV. Take time to reconnect with mother nature. Focus on grounding your root chakra, moving your body and getting some fresh air to bring in the new season. Grab your family or a friend and go for a walk, bike, check out local hikes, or scout out sites for a nice picnic.

  2. Restore balance in the body! Along with connecting to Gaia outside, be mindful of restoring balance within the body itself. Start a new meditation or yoga practice, do a detox or a cleanse to reset the body. Replace old habits of eating poorly or being inactive with new, healthier habits.

  3. Restore balance in the home! Spring cleaning is the perfect way to get a fresh start. By decluttering, you are making space for a new season in your home. Look closely at items that you have but haven’t used in 6 months to a year. Donate them to start the season by giving and helping others.

  4. Bring Spring indoors! Decorate your space with fresh flowers, trying your hand as a family at some flower arranging. Pick light colors and floral prints. Try some spring inspired crafts on Pinterest. Choose fresh scents for the home, floral and fresh essential oils. Tap into your sacral chakra and get those creative juices flowing!

  5. Prepare a family meal! Celebrate with foods that honor the coming of spring. Visit a local farmers market and pick foods that are fresh and in season. Green veggies and fruits and veggies are now going to be fresher than ever!

  6. Begin something new! Many people made New Year’s resolutions, but how are they really progressing with them? Sit down, create some goals, and get serious about them! This is the fresh start you have been waiting for.
